Welcome to the memorial page for

James Travis Hartwick

July 8, 1934 ~ November 3, 2017 (age 83) 83 Years Old

James Travis Hartwick of Little Rock died on November 3, 2017. He was born on July 8, 1934. After a long battle with Alzheimer's our precious Poppa Travis went home to be with Jesus. He accomplished many things in his life and gave to many unconditionally. Went to North Little High, a star football player, they called him speedy Hartwick. After college while in the militaty he served 5 years in France. He devoted time as a mentor and coach to many young men. He became a successful Barber introducing men's hair styling to Arkansas and served on city council as a alderman for many years. After taking great care of his mother until  she passed he semi-retired and moved to Mountain View and continued to cut a little hair on the square. He was the President of chamber of commerce for a time and for several years has a prison ministry at Calico Rock where he baptized several men in Calico Creek. But the two things he loved the most was entertaining folks with the love of bluegrass music where they considered him a "Personality" because he had a way of drawing a crowd. And he loved spending time in the word. It was most important to him that we all understood how much we are loved by the Lord; he told all who would listen. And when he lost the ability to speak he would point up to Heaven and say that's all that really matters.

He was preceded in death by his father J.B. Hartwick mother Opal Camp Hartwick. He is survived by his sister Arlene Stalnaker (Cliff) , daughters Melissa Fowler and Melanie Hartwick, son Herb Newman, 5 grandchildren; Mark Scooter Jenkins (Courtney), James Dillon Jenkins, Trevor Allen Jenkins (Cammy), Anna Comelson (Jarred), Paula Vasquez (Juan), 6 great grandchildren ; Townsend, Faith, Nicholas, Parker, Madeline, Charlie and Fisher on the way.
