Betty Ruth Howe Wharton, 87, of Lonoke, was called to her heavenly home on Sunday,
November 13, 2022. She was born February 27, 1935, to the late Loyd and Ruth Howe of
England, Arkansas.
Betty was a seamstress, loved gardening and was known for her beautiful yard and flowers. She
loved the LORD and served Him faithfully as a member and organist of County Line Missionary
Baptist Church for over 70 years.
Betty is preceded in death by the love of her life and husband of 53 years, W. C. “Sonny”
Wharton; her parents, Loyd and Ruth Howe; and niece, Alicia Harvey. She is survived by her
sister, Billie Vandervort of Van Buren; a nephew, Travis (Teresa) Vandervort of Alma; niece,
Teresa (Aaron) Lynn of Celina, Texas; sisters-in-law, Jo (Roger) Coffman of Lonoke, Alma
Joyce (John) Tankersley of Fort Worth, Texas, and Jewell Wharton of Lonoke; and a host of
nieces, nephews, and good friends. Betty also leaves behind her pet and special companion,
Sweetie, as well as lifelong and loving friend, Virginia White.
The family would like to extend a special “thank you” to Betty’s special and caring friends,
Hank Billiot, Carmella Johnson, and Rita Huddleston.
Visitation will be Thursday, November 17, 2022, from 1:00-2:00PM, at Wilson Robison Funeral
Home Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 2:00PM with Eddie Addison officiating. Burial
