Betty Jean Grice Whitfield, 83, of Scott, went to her heavenly home on June 26, 2022. She was born in Little Rock on May 10, 1939, to the late Odus and Thelma Grice. She was married to Jack Whitfield for 66 years.
She is now at home with her parents and her sons, Tommy and Grady; son-in-law, David Houser; and brothers, Buddy and Harold Patterson. She is survived by her loving husband; daughters, Jackie (Danny) Lynch and Betty Jo Houser, all of Scott; sons, David (DeAnn) Whitfield of Sherwood, Timmy Whitfield of Scott, and Bobby Joe (Lucinda) Whitfield of Ward; 6 granddaughters; 10 grandsons; 18 great-grandchildren; and sister, Minnie Mae Fortson of Benton; and her soon to be first great-great-grandson, Cooper Jack.
“It took her children growing up to realize all of mother’s sacrifices and the great love she had for her family. We love you Mama and thank you for all you selflessly gave us.”
Betty and Jack started their married life with a ready-made family as they took in Betty’s three young siblings and then raised them alongside their own 7 children. It wasn’t easy raising 10 children, but the children always had home-cooked meals, clean clothes, and a spotless house. Betty and Jack built two homes before moving to Scott and settling on a farm.
Betty loved working in and keeping a beautiful yard. She loved flea markets; she and Jack would go almost every weekend after retiring. She bravely battled Alzheimer’s for 5 years. The family would like to thank Kindred Hospice for walking this journey with them for the last two years.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 on Tuesday June 28, 2022 at Wilson Robison Funeral Home, 701 Pine Bluff Hwy, England; 501-842-3901. Online condolences can be sent to www.wilsonrobisonfhengland.com
