Wilburn Blair “Billy” Mitchell, 88, of Sherrill passed away Tuesday September 3, 2024 at home peacefully surrounded by his family. He was born October 21, 1935 in Sherrill the son of Maurice and Ruby Murray Mitchell.
He was a graduate of Altheimer High School. He served in the United States Army. He was a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church of Sherrill. He enjoyed camping at Mountain Harbor on lake Ouachita, campsite number 10 with his family.
He was a retired captain from the Pine Bluff Fire Department, he was also retired from the Sherrill Volunteer Fire Department as chief where the fire station was in his honor. In his free time he also worked for several interior designers over the years.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Anita of the home, one son Mitch Mitchell of Sherrill, two daughters Pam Johnson and husband Rusty of White Hall and Penny Lloyd and husband Perry of Elkin, North Carolina; Seven grandchildren Brandi Wooldridge (Matt), Dusty Johnson (Allison), Cecelia Rosendahl (Tyler), Corey Moore (Ivy), Jude Lloyd, Brittany Weatherford (Barry), and Madison Mitchell; fifteen great grandchildren and one sister Mauricene Blackwell of Sherrill.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday September 7, 2024 at First Missionary Baptist church in Sherrill from 2PM until 4PM.
In Lieu of flowers the family ask that you make donations in his name to the First Missionary Baptist Church P.O. Box 4 Sherrill, Arkansas 72152 or the Sherrill Volunteer Fire Dept.
Cremation services are entrusted to Wilson Robison Funeral Home 701 Pine Bluff Highway England.
