Dixie Virginia (Pierce) White, 91, passed away on Thursday, December 24, 2020 at Cavalier Healthcare of England, Ark., where she had resided since November 2006. She was born in Lonoke, Ark., on June 9, 1929, the daughter of James Leslie and Otha Mae (Petty) Pierce. She grew up in Lonoke County and graduated from Humnoke High School in 1947. After graduation, she moved to Los Angeles, Calif., where she worked for the phone company until becoming a mother. On June 24, 1950, she married Fred White in Las Vegas, Nev. They lived in Los Angeles, Pico Rivera, and South Whittier, Calif. In 1972, they moved to Elkland, Missouri, before moving to Humnoke, Ark., in 1979. They were married for 39 years until his death in 1989. Dixie was actively involved as an alumni of Humnoke High School and maintained life-long friendships with many of her classmates. She was a member of the Humnoke Methodist Church. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, reading, doing jigsaw and crossword puzzles. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; an infant daughter, Brenda Gnell; an infant son, Ronald Bruce; one sister, Della Mae Pierce Roy of Garden Grove, Calif.; and her seven brothers, Elbert Melton Pierce of Humnoke, Claud Homer Pierce of Yountville, Calif., Clarence Eugene Pierce of Humnoke, Cecil Clifton Pierce of LaMonte, Missouri, James Bethel Pierce of Humnoke, A.C. Pierce of Orange, Calif., and Max Baer Pierce of Hot Springs Village, Ark.
She is survived by her daughter, Debbra Ann White Mullen of Valley Village, Calif.; her son, Dennis Lee (Tamera) White of Cabot; three grandchildren, Stephen White, Aaron White, and Lee Ann (Shannon) Schlimm of Greenville, Wisc.; four great-grandchildren, Corbin Haskins of DeWitt, Ark., Abria White, and Molly and Hunter Schlimm of Greenville, Wisc.; several sisters in-law; and many nieces and nephews. According to her wishes, her body will be cremated. No funeral services are planned, however an ash-scattering ceremony will be held at a date to be determined.
