James Poole Obituary

James “Jim” H. Poole Jr., 86, of England, passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2025, with family by his side.

He was born July 10, 1938, in Columbia, Mississippi to Jame H. Poole Sr. and Estelle H. Poole. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, William T. Pool.

He received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1963 from the University of Southern Mississippi and felt called to spend his career in the military. James served our country proudly by first joining the United States Army and then later serving in the United States Navy. His final service to our country was with the United States Air Force where he achieved the rank of Colonel before his retirement.
James spent his leisurely time drawing cartoon characters which entertained  his grandchildren and great grandchildren endlessly. He would tell you that his time was best spent with Mary, and they enjoyed dining frequently at The Crooked Hook.
James has left many to cherish his memory which includes his loving wife of 20 years, Mary Powell-Poole; children, Monica Poole, Sheila Templeton and Clifton Poole and stepchildren, Carla Henderson (Brian) and Lisa Devore (Brian); six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and fondly remembered by many other beloved family and friends. We will forever carry Jim’s memory and kindness in our hearts..
Cremation services were entrusted to Wilson-Robison funeral home 701 Pine Bluff Hwy England, Arkansas. Obit was written by the family.
