Jimmy Sullivan Obituary

On Saturday, September 27, 2025, Jimmy Ray Sullivan woke up from a nap in the arms of Jesus. Born June 15, 1952, in Humnoke, Arkansas, to Noal and Mattie Sullivan, Jimmy lived 73 years full of laughter, hard work, and love for his family.

Jimmy was truly a “jack of all trades.” Over the years he farmed, welded, worked as a mechanic and carpenter in several private and well known businesses, owned a gas station, muffler shop, and wrecker service.  He also served as security and maintenance supervisor at Department of Corrections, and eventually retired as a rural mail carrier with the United States Postal Service. Whatever the job, Jimmy gave it his all and took pride in doing it right.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Betty Sullivan; one son, James R. Sullivan; two daughters, Jennifer (Mike) Ramsey and Kathy (Eric) Bellott; his brother, Donny (Sue) Sullivan; his sister-in-law, Brenda Sullivan; and his brother-in-law, Calvin Spradlin. His pride and joy were his six grandchildren: Blake (Madison) Benson, Izac Bellott, Caleb (Natalie) Sullivan, Abby Bellott, Brooklynn Sullivan, and Jacob Ramsey. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and extended family and exchange students whom he loved dearly—and enjoyed pestering every chance he got.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Noal and Mattie Sullivan; sisters Pat Railey and Geneva (Herbert) Stephens; and brothers Sonny and Bobby Sullivan, and special sister in law, Melba Spradlin, neice, Karissa Spradlin, and nephews, James Thomas Sullivan, Jody Sullivan, and Doug Sullivan.

Jimmy was a member of Union Valley Missionary Baptist Church in England, AR.  When he wasn’t working or attending church, Jimmy could be found fishing, tending a garden, cheering on his favorite teams, or passing on his hobbies and wisdom to his grandchildren. Nothing made him happier than time with his family, especially his grandbabies, who were the light of his life.  Jimmy will be remembered for his quick wit, his helping hands, his devotion to family, and his unwavering faith.
