Melvin Darell Ratliff, Sr., 78, of England, Arkansas, was called to his heavenly home on May 28, 2022. Darell was born on July 19, 1943, in Wilford, Arkansas, to Harry and Elsie Bailey Ratliff.
Darell was proceeded in death by his parents; his wife, Louise Ratliff; one daughter, Mary Lockeby; three brothers, Gerald Ratliff, William H. Ratliff, and Donald M. Ratliff; and one sister, Velva Lou Gibheart. He is survived by two sons, Melvin Darell (Susan) Ratliff, Jr. of North Little Rock and Shawn (Ricci) Ratliff of White Hall; a daughter, Patty Cavenor of Benton; a sister, Carolyn Hill of Ravenden Springs; and 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Darell moved to England in the late sixties and opened a barber shop. He was in business for fifty years. He was a Mason and a faithful, active member of County Line Missionary Baptist Church. Everyone loved Mr. Darell, especially the children. Every Sunday he would come to church with a pocket full of candy; he loved it when the children would run up run to his pew to get their candy. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed working in his yard. He loved his family and his Church family.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 2, 2022, at Mulberry Cemetery in England, Arkansas. Services are under the direction of Wilson Robison Funeral Home. Online condolences can be sent to www.wilsonrobisonfuneralhomeengland.com
