Rockney Gilmore Obituary

Rockney Dewayne Gilmore, born on September 8, 1950, in Blytheville Arkansas, drew his last breath on June 8, 2024, in Paragould Arkansas. He was the beloved child of Georgia Brown(Gilmore) and Ora Gilmore. Rockney's departure was preceded by his mother, Georgia Brown(Gilmore) his father, Ora Gilmore, and his sister, Sheila Gilmore.

Rockney leaves behind a devoted family, including his loving wife of nearly 38 years, Peggy Gilmore and his two brothers David and Dickie Gilmore. He is survived by his children, Casey and Candice Gilmore, Hunter Gilmore, Harley and Jazzalyn Gilmore, Anna Gilmore-LeBleu and Arron LeBleu. His grandchildren, Hallie Gilmore, Lyndlee Martin, Hadley Grace Martin, Reid Gilmore, and Lyla Mae LeBleu, will always cherish his memory.

During his life, Rockney served his country with honor, spending one tour under honorable conditions as a Marine in the Vietnam War as a radio operator, during his time in the military he received a Rifle Marksman Badge, National Defense service medal and a Vietnam service medal. His work history was diverse, having been a draftsman, gunsmith, and musician. He had a knack for fixing things and was passionate about playing the drums, guns, motorcycles, and hot rods. However, the title of grandfather, or “Pop Rock”, was one of the ones he was most proud of.

His dedication to his family and friends was unwavering. Rockney's legacy will live on through the memories he created with his loved ones and the impact he made on those around him.

A private Memorial service will be held to honor and celebrate Rockney's life. A special message of gratitude is extended to the Greene Acres Nursing Home of Paragould Arkansas and all the staff who cared for Rockney during his time there.
