William "Sonny" Wharton

William “Sonny” Wharton, age 81, of England, Arkansas passed away Thursday August 6, 2020 at White County Medical Center in Searcy Arkansas. He was born March 22, 1939 in Pettus, Arkansas to William and Gladys Cordell Wharton. Sonny graduated in 1957 from Lonoke High School, after graduation he was drafted into the United States Army where he proudly served his country. After serving his country Sonny started his life long career in farming, he was a hard working man and loved being outside, hunting and fishing. He was a faithful member of County Line Missionary Baptist Church of England where he sang in the choir. He was a member of the American Legion. He is preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Billie Winfrey and nephew, Bill Wharton.

Sonny is survived by the love of his life of over 50 years, Betty; brother, Charles Wharton (Jewell) of Lonoke; two sisters, Jo Coffman (Roger) of Lonoke and Joyce Tankersley (John) of Ft. Worth, Texas; six nieces, Melisa Chesney, Jennifer Norwood, Denise Clothier, Amy Staggs, Angie Nichols and Stephanie Mason; four nephews; and his little dog Sweetie
